| | | Waste companies | ATO 5 entrusted three companies to manage the urban waste service on its territorial jurisdiction:
1. Hera: it is one of the major Italian multiutility companies, mainly operating in Emilia-Romagna region. It is a public-private company (the majority is public owned, by several municipalities). It has been publicly traded on the stock market since 2003.
It serves 36 municipalities (out of 60) on the territory of ATO 5.
2. Geovest: it is a public-owned company, serving 11 municipalities (8 of them on the territory of ATO 5).
3. Cosea Ambiente: it is a public-owned company, serving 16 municipalities on the territory of ATO 5.
