| | | Water companies | ATO 5 entrusted two companies to manage the integrated water service on its territorial jurisdiction:
1. Hera: it is one of the major Italian multiutility companies, mainly operating in Emilia-Romagna region. It is a public-private company (the majority is public owned, by several municipalities). It has been publicly traded on the stock market since 2003.
It serves 58 municipalities (out of 60) on the territory of ATO 5.
2. Sorgea: it is a public-owned company, serving 5 municipalities (2 of them on the territory of ATO 5).
